Caring for Newborns

and Children

Newborn Care

Whether your baby is born at home or in the hospital, Dr. Lisa or Dr. Susan will offer care for your newborn just after birth. They will review your birth experience; examine your baby from head to toe, go over newborn care, including breastfeeding, and support you in caring for your newborn. If born at home, they will see your baby at 2-5 days of age either at your home or in our office. If born in the hospital, they will see your baby in the hospital within the first 24 hours and continue to care for your baby on a daily basis until discharge. If your baby is transferred to the intensive care unit Dr. Lisa or Dr. Susan will work with the neonatalogists to ensure that you and your baby are receiving the best care possible.

Infants, Children, and Teenagers

After the initial newborn period, Dr. Lisa and Dr. Susan are happy to serve your child's ongoing primary care needs or to simply offer consultations for specific needs, it's your choice. Dr. Lisa and Dr. Susan do not, however, offer hospital care beyond the newborn period but will refer to doctors at Mission Children's if hospital needs arise.

With over 16 yrs experience raising her own two children and being the doctor for many other children, Dr. Lisa offers ongoing pediatric care designed to accommodate you and your child's special needs and concerns. With additional training in herbology, nutrition and counseling, Dr. Lisa offers thoughtful alternatives to antibiotics and other invasive treatments when appropriate. With her down to earth style and experience in adolescent care, Dr. Lisa has a special interest and gift in working with teenagers.

Similarly, Dr. Susan, as the proud mother of a 4 year old and 5 month old, also takes great care of the children and teenagers in her practice.  Whether children come for well visits or for integrative help with their chronic health issues, Dr. Susan has a gift for putting her younger patients at ease.

Immunizations

We do accept babies and children of parents who choose not to immunize their children or prefer to partially immunize or use a delayed immunization schedule. Dr. Lisa or Dr. Susan can also help you design an individualized immunization schedule and promises mercury free vaccines.
