Family to Family: Your Home for Whole Family Health

Dr. Lisa Lichtig, MD

Hi, I am Lisa Lichtig, MD, though people often call me 'Dr. Lisa'. I am a board certified family physician with additional training in integrative medicine, plant spirit medicine and midwifery care. As a family physician trained in both conventional and alternative therapies, I offer customized care to meet your unique needs. I help people restore balance, harmony and health to their body, mind and spirit.

Through my work, I offer outpatient holistic health care including maternity and infant care; integrative approaches to chronic and complex health issues; women's health care; wellness visits; annual exams and ongoing healing treatments to men women and children of all ages. My approach is individualized; I treat the whole person, not merely the symptoms of imbalance. I integrate natural therapies such as, plant essences, imagery, herbs and vitamins, nutritional guidance and deep listening to help ignite the healing process.

I have a passion for birthing and help women and families transform through the process of birth. Together we create a sacred environment of healing through pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting. I birthed both of my boys at home, and I've attended many births in hospitals and birth centers. When attending births at Mission Hospital, I create and maintain a safe and sacred space so that your and your baby's birth experience is holy.

I call upon all of my training and life experience in my work. I received my medical training at the University of Michigan Medical School, The University of New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program and The Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) Family Medicine Residency Program. In 1995, I graduated from the New Mexico Herb Institute as a clinical herbalist with over 1000 hours of training. In 1999 I completed the plant spirit medicine practitioner training with healer Eliot Cowan and continue as an apprentice in the Huichol-spiritual tradition.

Much of my training however, has come from spending time in nature and from patients, who continue to expand my understanding of health and healing. I am grateful to those teachers in Mexico, Nigeria, West Africa; Bethel, Alaska; rural New Mexico, and Western North Carolina. In September 1999, I opened Family to Family, a holistic health center located on Charlotte Street in Asheville. In addition to my knowledge and experience of a wide range of both conventional and natural therapies, I bring love, compassion and deep respect for all people to my work.
